The Soul of Nashville

Jefferson Street in North Nashville is a proud and resilient community. It inspired business moguls, musicians, and the civil rights movement. North Nashville was deeply affected by the construction of Interstate 40 in the 1960s, and many residents and businesses were displaced. As more buildings continue to be bulldozed, the remaining residents are determined to keep this rich, vibrant history alive. This documentary shines light on how we can all help foster the future identity of North Nashville’s Black community while also preserving the past.
